An exciting opportunity exists for an ASSET PROTECTION MANAGER at I&J AQUACULTURE in GANSBAAI, WESTERN CAPE. The purpose of the role is to demonstrate extensive involvement in maintaining the safety of company assets and personnel. Mitigating company losses and criminal activities, and generally preventing financial loss, theft and fraud within the company by the implementation of best security practices and preventative measures.

The successful candidate will be part of a diverse group of professionals and will extend across all the various business units within AVI Limited.

Job Specification:
Key Performance Areas:

1. Risk identification and assessment
Continuously identify criminal modus operandi both internal in AVI and external that can have a detrimental
effect on all assets and staff in AVI and its business units. Particular focus on the following risks:
o Armed robberies
o Theft
o Fraud
o Misuse of company assets
o Assault
o Vehicle hijacking
o Behavior contrary to AVIxe2x80x99s ethics policy
Assess the identified risks in terms of the potential impact on AVI and/or any of its business units
Effectively communicate the identified and assessed risks to AVI and affected business units
Continuously and proactively, make recommendations and drive improvements
Comply with relevant AVI and I&J standards and other governance.
Implement and maintain Group Risk Control Standards at I&J Aquaculture (Danger Point and other sites)
Ensure I&J Aquaculture adheres to the Environmental laws and regulations xe2x80x93 Is the site Environmental
Officer.
Maintains and updates Business Continuity Plan and Critical asset list xe2x80x93 maintenance of policies and
procedures alike.
Monitor and enforce compliance with Group Risk control standards. Update and implementation of Risk
Mitigation Systems (RMS)
Table action lists at safety meetings and requests feedback on action taken.
Update all SOPxe2x80x99s, get them approved and ensure all relevant personal are trained xe2x80x93 ensure sign-off by all staff
on the SOPxe2x80x99s.
Ensure individuals performing standby duties are adequately trained to performance duties effectively and
efficiently.

2. Counter measures
Continuously and proactively, identify cost effective counter measures both physical, electronic and digital to minimize identified risks
Assist business units in implementing the agreed counter measures

3. Monitor and review compliance
Monitor and review compliance of implemented counter measures
Communicate noncompliance to agreed counter measures to the relevant business unit and/or AVI where
necessary
Implement OHS ACT and labour related legislation within the entire Aquaculture business environment.
Ensures that on-site sub-contractors comply with AVI and I&J insurance, liability, regulations and indemnity as determined by the Group Risk Policies.
Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
Convenes and coordinates annual Head Office bi0annual internal risk audits xe2x80x93 sets suitable date and time for a monthly management inspection of the operating unit. Notifies managers involved at least one week before the appointment time.
Draws up and inspection schedule and accompanies managers during the inspection, making notes of defects
/ deviations noted and reports on non-compliances.
Involved with process improvements, SOPxe2x80x99s and maintains records of injury statistics.
Investigates all reported occurrences by liaising with the Human Resources Officer, ensures that disciplinary
action is taken where warranted.
Convenes monthly health and safety meetings. Ensure that actions identified to minimize risk are completed.
Compiles a monthly report of all incidents.
Maintains a register of all fire-fighting equipment & ensure compliance of OSH Act legislation.
Carry out daily, weekly and monthly inspections of the workplace with emphasis on detecting and reporting
deviations from Group Risk Control Standards.
Maintains a register of all fire-fighting equipment and ensures compliance of required legislation.

4. Additional critical performance areas
Conduct investigations, interrogations, and interviews
Co-ordinate with law enforcement authorities in enforcing crime prevention measures
Be trained and able to handle potentially violent situations
Generate comprehensive reports of incidents on a regular basis and communicate the reports to AVI and
business units
Compile and employ loss prevention and safety programs, including but not limited to, fraud mitigation
Develop effective partnerships within and outside the business and communicate effectively and efficiently
with external agencies, including police and private security agencies
Drive continual improvement and enhancements to security standards
Daily review and analyzing of CCTV footage
Testing and reporting of non-operational security systems technology
Ensure PSIRA legal compliance of security officers
Engage with external law enforcement agencies and other relevant external stakeholders
Attend Community Policing Forums to ascertain crime trends which could impact Business Units
Manage on-site security service providers SLA compliance.
Manage on-site security system service providers to ensure 100% uptime of security equipment
Manage and coordinated with the business units the secure transportation of products from the business units
to its contracted export logistics service providers
Work with the with the business unit to comply to asset insurance requirements
Contractor Management - Responsible for contractor screening and employee vetting before onboarding
Ensure Fire & Defence systems are inspected and maintained in accordance with I&J & AVI Group Risk
Standards and OHSA Regulations
Emergency response planning, systems implementation, review and periodic testing
Drive Occupational Health & Safety compliance in terms of frequent inspection and reporting, general
administration and regulatory appointments
Drives environmental compliance.
Facilitate internal and external risk audits xe2x80x93 by Group, External Insurers etc.
Is responsible for all incident reporting for Aquaculture.
Drive compliance to MOC Policies & Procedures

Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
Minimum of 5 yearsxe2x80x99 experience working as an Asset Protection Manager within a complex business structure
including manufacturing, retail, and logistics
Exposure to or experience in Aquaculture would be advantageous
Good understanding of security systems technology and the implementation of security technology systems
for improved security risk mitigation strategies
Portfolio of evidence in leading and managing an asset protection team especially team members that are not
direct reports
Some experience as an Environmental Officer or exposure to Environmental Science would be preferential

Qualifications:
Appropriate tertiary qualification in risk and security management
Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) registered Grade A
A background in military or law enforcement is essential
An accreditation in Environmental Science would be preferential

Additional Requirements:
In-depth knowledge of the latest security systems, practices, legislation and technologies
Commercially astute and stays current on key business and security matters
Excellent understanding and working knowledge of MS Office suite
