Job Description

Cementation Africa invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Artisan Rigger to be placed in Mokopane Shaft 2. The successful candidate will report to the Foreman Engineering. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.
Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

• Engineering installations are constructed according to agreed standards, procedures and specifications
• Minimum 5 years of trade experience as a Rigger / Ropesman working with ropes and winders / hoists, preferably in a shaft in the mining environment
• Experience working with rope reelers and tensioners
• Experience conducting baseline risk assessments
• Thorough understanding of heavy lifting, winders / hoists, rigging equipment and rope inspections, maintenance and legal requirements
• Sound understanding of the Mine Health and Safety Act

Minimum requirements
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Valid Rigger / Ropesman Trade Certificate
• Valid EB Driver's License
• Valid Medical Certificate of Fitness
• Muscular strength to do rope splicing
• Skilled at splicing and able to identify and use various types of ropes
• Job planning and supervisory skills
• Attention to detail and listening skills
• Ability to lift and move loads using various methods and equipment
• Ability to work at heights, focus and maintain concentration in physically stressful and demanding conditions
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, solve problems and make decisions within agreed parameters
• Good English written and verbal communication skills

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
