Job Description
Job Summary
Our client is seeking a qualified Artisan Fitter, to safely attend to the maintenance and repair of mechanical installations within their Smelter Business Unit to ensure the minimum of down time to production. This role reports to the mechanical foreman.
Key Activities:
- Attending to planned and preventative mechanical maintenance
- Promptly attending to any breakdowns
- Fault-finding
- Housekeeping
- Risk assessments and incident investigations
- SHEQ compliance
- Reporting
- Taking part in cost reduction initiatives and waste reduction
- Coaching and mentoring junior employees
- Matric
- N3 Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Red Seal trade tested Fitter
- Mechanical qualifications above a N3 mechanical engineering would be advantageous
- A second trade test as a Millwright would be highly advantageous
- 2 years' experience post-apprenticeship within a smelter or similar environment
- 5 years' work experience within the precious metal or steel industry
- Excellent communication skills
