WATER AND SANITATION Artisan (Engineering) - Diesel Mechanic
Requirements
Trade Tested Artisan (Diesel, Petrol and Earthmoving Mechanic)
Minimum of 1-2 years post apprenticeship experience in a
mechanical maintenance related field
Valid Code B/EB Driver's license
Valid Code 10/C1 Driver's license with PrDP will be an added
advantage
Ability to work in confined spaces, heights and sewer environment
Ability to work overtime and outside normal working hours as and
when required
Ability to work in all-weather condition.
Key Performance Areas
Interprets and co-ordinates specific pre-work/site requirements
with regards to repairs and, planned and predictive maintenance
sequences and guides the activities of support personnel, by
communicating with the immediate supervisor and establishing
material and resources necessary against specific work orders.
Co-ordinates activities and sequences associated with
maintaining the functionality of petrol/diesel driven Mechanical
Plants and vehicles, by checking the status of hydraulic driven
mechanism and communicating any malfunction to the
immediate supervisor.
Driving and testing vehicles to assess operating functionality and
safety.
Co-ordinates activities/sequences associated with
troubleshooting/ fault finding and repairing mechanical
breakdowns, by diagnosing faults through the application of
visual and other related mechanical inspection and investigation
procedures.
Reports defects or incidents to superior
Removing and replacing defective parts with reconditioned or
new spares.
Checking the functionality of replacement parts executing the
necessary adjustment and setting sequences.
Standing in for Specialist Engineering Artisan his/her absence.
Ensure that work permits and lockout procedures are carried out
before commencement of the job
