In this role you will be responsible for but not limited to:
Overseeing all mechanical maintenance and coordination activities for Rustenburg Smelter during the care and maintenance period
Ensuring that maintenance planning and execution meet operational, legal and safety standards
Managing projects, shutdown and breakdown maintenance, and ensuring timely response to all mechanical issues affecting plant assets
Leading and supervising the maintenance team to achieve objectives in equipment reliability, critical spares management, and individual/team performance
Planning workflow, scheduling maintenance tasks, and optimising team competency and development
Overseeing quality assurance, adhering to standard maintenance procedures, and driving continuous improvement initiatives
Implementing and enforcing maintenance and safety procedures according to OHS Act, Glencore Sustainable Development Standards, and internal protocols
Conducting visual inspections, audits, and quality control to ensure plant and equipment compliance
Managing cost (OPEX and CAPEX) documentation, reporting incidents or breakdowns, and supporting root cause analysis for process improvements
Fostering a clean, orderly, and safe workplace environment in alignment with 5S and life-saving behaviours
Supporting team coaching, training needs analysis, and manpower planning to ensure sustained team competency and performance
About you:
Grade 12 or NQF level 4, Technical Grade 12, or N3 or higher qualification related to a mechanical trade/engineering
Relevant Trade Certificate or alternative National Degree/Diploma (Mechanical related)
Minimum 4 years' operational mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial or smelting environment
Knowledge and application of maintenance management, equipment reliability, and cost control
Proven analytical, problem-solving, planning, and organizing skills
Computer literacy and good reporting/documentation skills
Strong leadership, supervision, communication, and people management abilities
Demonstrated commitment to safety standards, sustainable development, and continuous improvement
Knowledge of OHS Act and ISO quality systems will be advantageous
Ability to work under pressure, adapt to change, and meet multi-disciplinary objectives
Experience at Rustenburg Smelter will be advantageous
