Are you a seasoned technical sales leader who thrives on building high-performing teams, growing complex accounts, and driving sustainable regional growth?
An established, globally respected player in industrial instrumentation, automation, services and solutions is seeking an Area Sales Manager to lead and grow its Gauteng region, one of the most strategically important territories in the business.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for someone who combines deep technical credibility with strong commercial acumen and a consultative sales mindset.
The Role at a Glance
You will take full ownership of sales performance across Gauteng, Free State, Limpopo, North West and Northern Cape, leading a multi-disciplinary sales team and regional representatives to achieve ambitious growth and profitability targets.
Based in Gauteng, you will be responsible for:
Regional sales strategy and execution
Sales team leadership, development and performance management
Key account growth, market expansion and new business development
Driving solution-based and value-added sales
Strengthening customer relationships and market presence
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach and inspire internal and external sales teams to consistently achieve targets
Identify and develop market potential across products, services and solutions
Build and execute strategic account plans for Tier A & B customers
Drive opportunity management from lead qualification through to deal closure
Grow cross-selling, solution penetration and value-added services
Ensure disciplined pipeline, forecast and CRM management
Manage channel partners and representative performance
Collaborate closely with marketing, service, projects and logistics teams
Uphold strong governance, ethical conduct and customer satisfaction standards
Requirements
What We're Looking For
You are a technically grounded sales leader with a proven track record in instrumentation and automation.
Essential requirements:
Matric plus National Diploma / N6
Trade Test in Instrumentation & Automation
8-10 years' experience in instrumentation and technical sales
3-5 years' experience in sales management
Strong exposure to process control projects and solutions
Valid driver's licence
Advantageous:
Qualification in Sales Management
CRM experience (Salesforce or similar)
SAP / Business Intelligence exposure
New business development experience

Travel
