Position Overview



The Area Manager, Convenience is responsible for overseeing the operations, performance and profitability of multiple convenience stores, along with development and execution of marketing strategies and campaigns. This role will also ensure consistent standards across all locations, drive sales growth, manage site managers and maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities



Operational Leadership

Oversee day-to-day operations across multiple C-store locations. Ensure stores meet company standards for cleanliness, safety and customer service. Implement and monitor operational policies and procedures.
Financial Management

Develop and manage budgets for each store. Monitor sales, margins and expenses to achieve profitability targets. Analyse financial reports and implement corrective actions when needed.
Team Management

Recruit, train and mentor store managers and staff. Conduct performance reviews and create development plans. Foster a positive, customer-focused culture across all stores.
Customer Experience

Ensure consistent delivery of excellent customer service. Handle escalated customer issues and complaints. Implement initiatives to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Inventory & Supply Chain

Ensure stock levels, ordering and vendor relationships are maintained across sites. Ensure accurate inventory management and minimise shrinkage. Coordinate promotions and merchandising across stores.
Compliance & Safety

Ensure adherence to health, safety and food handling regulations. Maintain compliance with labour laws and company policies. Conduct regular audits and inspections.
Strategic Growth

Identify opportunities for expansion, new product offerings and local marketing. Monitor competitor activity and market trends. Drive initiatives to increase foot traffic and sales.
Marketing & Brand Management

Assist the Operations teams in developing and implementing marketing campaigns across email, social media, digital and print. Develop and implement marketing campaigns for in-store promotions, fuel sales, seasonal campaigns, loyalty programs and community engagement. Coordinate store-level activations, giveaways, sponsorships and local marketing events. Coordinate events including vendor management and promotions. Manage and support the creative team to design engaging content for social media. Support the creation of marketing materials (brochures, presentations, website content). Maintain social media presence and online content, generating posts, monitoring engagement and growing digital communities. Conduct market research and competitive analysis. Develop and execute marketing campaigns. Support the development of brand identity and retail signage, ensuring consistency across all customer touchpoints.

Minimum Requirements



Qualification in Business Administration, Retail Management, or related field (preferred). Minimum 5 years of FMCG retail management experience, with at least 2 years in multi-site management. Proven track record of achieving sales and operational targets. Proven track record of successful implementation of new or improved processes. Knowledge of retail store operations, food service and merchandising. Proven success of marketing and brand management principles and implementation.
