The Applications Engineer will perform the necessary work to size, layout, cost, propose and audit performance of material processing systems for customers in various industries such as mining, aggregates, ports, and industrial etc.
Duties and Responsibilites:
Assist the Sales Team in evaluating technical details of the application and providing a suitable process flow solution and recommended products to ensure the required product material specification is met.
Review and respond to RFQ/RFP documents with respect to application requirements, equipment sizing/selection, performance guarantees, commercial terms, etc.
Support with product design & Plant layouts.
This role requires the person to work closely with the Engineering Team, Customers, Service providers and Supply Chain including all ASTEC industries subsidiaries where applicable.
Assist the aftermarket department in Engaging with customers on site issues related to process and warranty related matters as and when required.
Maintain expert level of product and application knowledge.
Travel to projects sites, attend site and project progress meetings and advise warranty investigations.
Technical evaluation of tender documents providing guidance to the business and relevant stakeholders as to lead disciplines and appropriate submission requirements.
Minimize the organizations exposure and risk on bids with regards to Application.
Ensure company and bid technical compliances are met and prepare required documentation for approval and sign off where required.
Maintain a library on technical aspects of bids.
Compliance to Vault and ERP standards and processes.
Supplying support to projects and project builds.
Ensuring compliance with QMS standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Mining Geological or Industrial Engineering.
AutoCAD/Inventor (or comparable software) knowledge and experience with 3D design software required.
Valid driver's license.
Experience:
5-10 years of technical material processing equipment product & application experience.
Engaging with customers technically and commercially at multiple levels.
Development of process flow diagrams and equipment layout drawings for aggregate processing plants and development of standard and non-standard equipment quotations.
Proven ability in planning and delivering compliant proposals within a complex business environment.
PDM vault exposure advantageous.
Character:
Structure and methodical in approach of duties and ability to work in an environment of constant pressure and deadlines.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Task driven individual with a strong sense of customer service.
Ability to manage stressful situations including equipment and/or process problem resolution with customers, dealer personnel, etc.
Attention to details is critical.
Good interpersonal relations skills when dealing with management, sales, dealers, customers, and inter-company personnel.
Computer Proficiency:
Ability to operate general office equipment including personal computers.
Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Minimum of CSWP level on Solis Works.
Advanced level on Aggflow or similar package.
Experience on AX ERP system will be an advantage.
Other:
Willing to travel worldwide by air and auto as required, have valid driver's license, be able to obtain a passport and must have financial means to travel when required.
