The South African office plays a key role in supporting local producers and exporters in meeting international requirements for organic products.
About the Role:
The Analysis Officer will be based at the Somerset West office and is expected to start as soon as possible. This position involves interpreting analysis results from samples of organic products to determine compliance with various organic certification schemes. Initial training will focus on the National Organic Program (NOP) and the EU 2018/848 organic standard.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret analysis results and check admissibility.
  • Evaluate substances detected on products in relation to certification history, scheme requirements, and risk assessments.
  • Issue interpretation conclusions regarding origin of substances, related non-compliance, and additional actions required.
  • Coordinate actions with internal staff responsible for evaluation and certification.
  • Maintain communication with authorities and other certification bodies regarding notifications and reports.
  • Follow up with laboratories, define lists of substances for analysis, and issue annual quality evaluation reports.
  • Provide technical support and training to internal staff on sampling, analysis, and risk assessment.
  • Record all analysis results and handle irregularities identified in reports.
Requirements:
  • BSc in Chemistry, BAgric, or a relevant tertiary qualification (additional courses such as AVCASA are beneficial).
  • Excellent English and Afrikaans communication skills (spoken and written).
  • Experience in the agricultural sector, particularly organic or sustainable practices, and laboratory work involving MRLs is advantageous.
  • High level of computer literacy (Microsoft Office proficiency).
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
  • Honest, trustworthy, and eager to learn with a keen interest in organic and sustainability.
Additional Information:
This is a permanent position with a probation period (6 months). The company offers benefits such as medical aid contribution, life and disability insurance, and eligibility for performance bonuses after a qualifying period. Partial remote working is part of current company policy.
