The main responsibility of this position is to supply the press with seed and to load oil and meal as per the sales operations schedule. This person will be responsible to meet regularly with producers to give them support in terms of growing practices and to ensure they sell their canola to SOILL. This position will be responsible for assisting the agricultural resource manager with the movement and storage of seed, meal and oil in the Swartland region.
Responsibilities

This position has a dual functional approach whereas the first is a typical agronomist and the second is overseeing a silo complex.
1.
Producers
To create and maintain excellent relationships between SOILL and our most important service providers, the producers of canola seed and other relevant resources and to promote the production of these resources.
To supply support and solutions to the producers to ensure their business or enterprise is running as efficiently and effectively as possible.
To ensure the producers sell their product to SOILL.
To research and to keep up to date regarding commodities produced, production methods, market tendencies, opportunities, developments and new trends in the agricultural sector.
Facilitate and coordinate the flow of resources (mostly canola and maize germ) between the suppliers/producers and SOILL.
2.
Silo
Operational aspects:
Ensure that all storage, loading and offloading equipment are regularly checked and serviced to ensure optimal performance and meets the food and safety standards of the company.
Ensure that the products are stored per procedure of the company.
Inventory control of the seed and meal is a key focus and deviations will be reported daily to the agricultural resource manager.
Ensure that the seed, oil and meal that are being loaded or offloaded meets the quality standards of the company.
Ensure that all trucks (seed, oil and meal) are loaded and offloaded according to the load sheets and that all relevant documents are completed.
To take ownership of the premises' housekeeping and cleaning according to food safety standards, routine inspections and reporting of non- conformances in this regard to the food safety team. Arrange for effective waste removal.
Personnel management:
Lead, motivate and inspire the silo team to ensure that discipline, top performance and productivity of the team is achieved continuously.
Investigate any non-conformances that may occur in this department and suggest and implement solutions.
Health and safety:
Participate in safety forums created by SOILL for example safety meetings and safety talks.
Report all safety incidents to the relevant people.
Procedures:
Ensure all staff reporting to this position old and new are trained on all the applicable procedures and that regular refreshment training is provided.
Ensure that all relevant training records are presented to the Quality Manager in due course.

Qualification and Experience
B. Sc. Agriculture degree, specializing in Agronomy with Agricultural Economy as a major subject.
Practical experience in farming will be to the applicant's advantage.
Computer literacy i.e., MS Word, MS Excel and experience in computerized accounting packages e.g. SAP system.
