Job Description


The role will be based in Gauteng and requires a resource with at least 3 years of experience in agricultural commodity sales, especially in dealing with the agricultural co-ops at branch and head office level as well as end users/farmers. The ideal candidate will have a strong marketing and sales personality, as the role involves maintaining excellent relations with suppliers and clients, as well as on-the-ground relationship development and management, which necessitates regular travel to the Free State, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, and North West regions. The company provides a company car, petrol card, and all tools of the trade to support these travel requirements.
The successful candidate must have a comprehensive understanding of the agricultural industry.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Handling of customer key accounts/relationships
  • Regular customer branch and head office visits/meetings
  • Visiting end users to educate them on product benefits and uses.
  • Assisting with the marketing function (advertising opportunities/trade shows)
  • Pricing negotiation with buying head office and direct customers
  • Ensuring customer orders are placed and stock rotation is well managed at customers.
  • Assisting with co-ordinating orders with the Johannesburg depot in line with the order/delivery cycle
  • Follow-up on payments from customers where required.
  • Keeping the business up to date with the general market and competitor activities
  • Proven experience in relationship management and development.
  • Regular travel to the Free State, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, and North West regions.
  • Self-starter with the energy to work and grow with the company.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Grade 12 with a post matric qualification being advantageous.
  • Must be fluent in Afrikaans and English
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a sales environment dealing with the agricultural co-ops and related feed and/or commodity products (non-negotiable)
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills.
  • Proven experience in relationship management and development.
  • Knowledge of logistics and transport negotiations.
  • Willingness to travel to the Free State, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, and North West regions, with a company car and petrol card provided.
  • Self-motivated and energetic.
  • Intermediate level of ability in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook).
