The Role

AFTER SCHOOL STUDY CLUB PROGRAMME LEAD - KNYSNA





To provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure the smooth, consistent, and high-quality delivery of a number of Afterschool Study Clubs (ASCs) in Knysna. This NGO role drives academic and personal development outcomes for learners, overseeing programme implementation, and strengthening collaboration with schools and community partners.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:





1. LEADERSHIP & TEAM MANAGEMENT


Lead, mentor, and supervise ASC Coordinators and Supervisors.
+ Facilitate regular training, performance monitoring, and capacity building.
+ Promote a positive, collaborative team culture grounded in accountability and shared learning.


2 .PROGRAMME IMPLEMENTATION & QUALITY


Oversee planning and delivery of ASC sessions aligned with the three programme pillars: Academic Empowerment, Culture & Work Ethic, and Self-Development & Leadership.
+ Ensure smooth operations -- scheduling, facilities, logistics, and resource management.
+ Monitor learner participation, retention, and progress through data-informed systems.


3. MONITORING, EVALUATION & REPORTING


Collect and analyse attendance, academic, and behavioural data. Prepare progress reports.

4. PROGRAMME INNOVATION & DEVELOPMENT


Pilot enrichment initiatives (e.g., Golden Key sessions, environmental fieldwork).
+ Integrate digital learning tools and evidence-based teaching methods.
+ Strengthen parental engagement through communication and learner showcase events.



Skills and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE




Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Sciences, or a related field (Postgraduate
advantageous).
2-5 years' experience in programme management within education or youth
development.
Proven leadership and team management track record. Experience with monitoring, evaluation, and reporting systems. Familiarity with the Western Cape education context and WCED structures is beneficial.
