About the role Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs. We are looking for Advisor: Health and Safetyto ensure legal and shareholder compliance to Rio Tinto HSE standards and regulatory requirements by assisting with the implementation of the HSE processes, procedures and initiatives and utilizing HSE systems. To provide an effective H&S Service in consultation with relevant stakeholders to the business in order to ensure optimum H&S performance and legal compliance within the Divisions. This service is expanded to the contractors at RBM to ensure compliance to Rio Tinto Standards and legislative requirements. Reporting to the Manager: Health and Safety and working in a collaborative community within the HSE team, you will:

• Provide safety monitoring, advice and ensure compliance service to highest level
• Assist with the monitoring of compliance to identified safety local and national legal requirements.
• Ensure that local and national legal safety requirements are identified and communicated as well as understood.
• Manage safety auditing, inspection and monitoring process.
• Facilitate and perform comprehensive safety systems and compliance audits.
• Ensure all HSE actions are assigned and tracked to closeout.
• Facilitate safety incident investigations.
• Verification of the effectiveness of corrective actions for significant incidents.

What youxe2x80x99ll bring
To succeed in this role, you will have:

• Grade12/ Matric/ N3
• National Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent
• Degree/ B. Tech in Safety Management or equivalent and/or at least SAMTRAC (Advantageous)
• A Valid South African Driverxe2x80x99s License
• 3 years of health and safety experience in a mining or industrial environment
• License/Certificate: SAMTRAC, COMSOC, NEBOSH, Incident Investigation/Analysis, Risk Management
• Well-developed communication skills in English (written and verbal) and proficiency in isiZulu (Advantageous)
• Well-developed interpersonal and presentation skills
• Computer skills (MS Office) xe2x80x93 Intermediate
