Job Description

A leading IT services company, is looking for a skilled and driven Advanced Desk Engineer to join there Operations team in Johannesburg. This is a senior-level role focused on delivering exceptional IT support, mentoring junior staff, and resolving complex technical issues.

What You'll Do



Provide advanced technical support for IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, firewalls, and end-user devices Troubleshoot and resolve escalated technical incidents from field and support teams Ensure compliance with security frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS, ISO) Perform daily system checks and ensure ticket updates via BMS and 3CX Mentor junior engineers and act as the point of escalation for high-priority issues Maintain technical documentation and generate incident/performance reports Meet performance KPIs including response and repair times, SLA targets, and training completion

What You Need



Education & Certifications:



A+, N+, MCP, MCITP -

Essential

SOPHOS Engineer V19.5 -

Essential


Experience:



Minimum 5 years in an IT support role Minimum 2 years on a service desk

Technical Knowledge (Advanced or Intermediate):



Windows Server & Workstation Microsoft Networking & Azure Fortinet & Sophos Firewalls VMWare ESXi, Veeam, AWS, and Google Cloud

Key Skills:



Strong troubleshooting and communication abilities Excellent time management and email etiquette Team leadership and mentoring skills
