The Department of Infrastructure, Western Cape Government has an employment opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to close, de- proclaim, proclaim, divert, define the boundaries and alter the classification and widths of provincial roads. The successful incumbent will have an opportunity to make a difference by serving both rural and urban land and road users in the Western Cape.
Minimum RequirementsAn appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification); A minimum of 1 year relevant experience.
RecommendationA valid (Code B or higher) driving licence. NB: People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities, but who have reasonable access to transport, may also apply; Willingness to occasionally travel away from headquarters for road inspections.
Key Performance AreasExecute the processes to close, proclaim, de-proclaim, divert, define the boundaries and alter the classification and widths of provincial roads; Draft provincial notices, proclamations for advertising in the local press and publication in the provincial gazette; Updating proclamation system, filing and recordkeeping; Draft letters, memos and submissions to management; Liaise with clients and municipalities on a regular basis; Conduct deeds office, Surveyor general and servitude investigations; Compliance with legal processes.CompetenciesKnowledge of the following: Roads Ordinance, 1976 (Ordinance 19 of 1976); Deeds Registries Act, 1937 (Act No47 of 1937); Deeds Office and Surveyor General Investigations; Basic Research; Interpret and apply applicable policy and legislation; Analyzing of Maps; Proven computer literacy MS Office Package; Good communication skills (written and verbal); Report writing and formulation; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Ability to work under pressure.
RemunerationR 325 101 R 382 959 per annum (Salary level 7)Note on remuneration: Service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
