Our client is seeking to appoint a Temporary Administrative Officer (AO1) to support the MURP (Mayoral Urban Regeneration Programme) Area Central Branch.
This short-term placement will provide crucial administrative and logistical support to ensure continuity and efficiency in the delivery of community-based initiatives. The role of the AO will assist in ensuring:

  • Continuity and Stability: Supports ongoing operations during a period of reduced staff capacity.
  • Improved Efficiency: Allows senior staff to focus on strategic oversight.
  • Service Delivery Assurance: Helps maintain commitments to community projects.
  • Cost-effective Flexibility: Temporary solution with no long-term employment obligations.
This role may require attendance at community meetings and events during evenings or weekends, and flexibility is therefore essential.
Key Responsibilities: * Perform general clerical and administrative duties for the MURP Area Central Branch.
  • Assist with the coordination of site visits and collect relevant documentation.
  • Compile and maintain a complete Portfolio of Evidence for MURP activities.
  • Provide logistical support for meetings and events, including venue bookings, minute-taking, and transport-related tasks.
  • Prepare documents and materials for training sessions, interventions, and meetings (e.g. attendance registers, printing, etc.).
  • Carry out general office tasks including photocopying, scanning, emailing, and telephone management.
  • Maintain and regularly update internal databases related to MURP activities.
  • Support project administration tasks, including maintaining SharePoint and other digital systems.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Relevant office administration training or experience 2 years+
Experience and Skills:
  • A solid understanding of MURP operations and the local government environment
  • Prior experience in MURP-related projects is highly advantageous
  • Experience working with EPWP (Expanded Public Works Programme) workers is beneficial
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and people skills
  • Ability to manage tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Proactive, flexible, and community-focused approach
