Accounts Receivable Clerk

Job Description
An opportunity exists for a confident and motivated Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our finance team. The role is focused on outbound debtor follow-ups, managing overdue accounts, and maintaining professional communication with customers to ensure prompt payments and accurate account records.
Key Responsibilities
Make high-volume outbound calls daily to follow up on outstanding customer balances. Monitor the age analysis and take proactive steps to reduce overdue accounts. Send statements, reminder emails, and payment confirmations to customers. Communicate professionally and persistently to resolve billing or payment queries. Record detailed notes of all correspondence, commitments, and payment arrangements. Escalate long-outstanding or problematic accounts in line with company credit procedures. Liaise with the finance team to ensure receipts and adjustments are correctly processed. Provide regular updates on collection progress and debtor status for reporting purposes.
Minimum Requirements
Certificate or Diploma in Finance, Accounting, or Bookkeeping (advantageous). 5 years' experience in a debtors or accounts receivable environment with proven outbound calling experience. Confident and professional phone manner with the ability to make a high volume of daily calls. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent attention to detail, persistence, and organisational ability. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of accounting systems (e.g. Pastel, Sage, or Xero).
