PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
To ensure accurate and timely recording, as well as analysis of accounting aspects and inventory entries of PEP Africa's subsidiaries within agreed time frames in support of the company's strategic goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Country Accounting
Ensure month end deadlines are met and any delays are effectively communicated
Assist the countries where needed to reach deadlines
Review all deliverables for accuracy and relevance before review by the Mgmt Accountant
Identify, investigate and suggest any improvements to the Accounting process, i.e. automation
Ensure an efficient year-end process.
Ensure accurate Commercial reconciliations
Accurate and timely recording of Stock & GP
Review DC stock take reports and report on variances
Ensure accurate accounting of price adjustments and stock loss
Review and reconciliation of inventory export and import entries
Ensuring accurate Airtime GP
Auditing
Assisting with internal and external audit queries
Communicate relevant information to appropriate stakeholders timeously (Manage Connect)
Team Management
Adherence to the annual Performance Management process, resulting in a formal development plan per Dynamo
Regular communication with team members sharing company information and conducting monthly check-ins
Driving department/team culture resulting in satisfactory Culture Survey Index (as annually prescribed)
Establishes clear, specific and measurable objectives for the team and drives team delivery and contribution
Motivates, inspires and builds team morale and culture by recognising and celebrating successes
Ad hoc projects
Participate in ad hoc duties (example POS errors)
Assist with projects as required (testing)
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Relevant tertiary qualification such as National Diploma (with Accounting major)
5+ years' experience in Finance environment
Retail industry experience will be advantageous
Knowledge of financial control environment and governance
Understanding of the business, industry and economic environment and relevant role-players
Knowledge of accounting for foreign currencies and consolidation is desirable
Ability to work in a team, report/communicate effectively to a leader whilst adhering to strict deadlines
Computer literacy: Advanced level (MS Office Software, Google Suite and Financial systems)
Willingness to travel to Africa occasionally when required
South African citizen
