our client, a wine farm situated between stellenbosch and somerset west is looking for an accountant, preferably with restaurant accounting experience and/or someone who has just finished their articles.

your duties will include (but not limited to)

1. processing of the following:
a. cash books
b. supplier invoice entries
c. debtorxe2x80x99s invoices
d. journal entries
e. expense entries
f. intercompany loan entries
g. fixed asset purchases, disposals, depreciation and profit and loss
h. point of sale

2. reconciliation of the following:
a. fixed asset recons/registers
b. balance sheet recons
c. income statement recons
d. bank reconciliations
e. instant money recons
f. petty cash recons
g. credit card recons
h. supplier payment recons
i. vat recons

3. calculation or preparation of all required journal entries

4. assisting with reconciliation of intercompany loan accounts

5. assisting with the review by preparation of review schedules and helping auditors when required to do so

6. payments:
a. preparation of local and foreign payment requisitions
b. ensuring all supplier payments are made timeously on due dates
c. follow up on all reconciling items timeous
d. reconciliation of the instant money account ensuring all monies were collected by the intended party and authorized by management and receipts/invoices/change returned.

7. compilation of reports:
a. weekly cashflow reports
b. actual vs budget variance analysis
c. any other reports that management may require

8. vat:
a. preparing vat reconciliations
b. vat data analysis xe2x80x93 compare items allowed as a deduction by sars vs claimed. investigate disallowed items. ensure that the general ledger is updated with these transactions

9. stock:
a. weekly stock takes and reconciliation of all relevant areas
b. stock costing and item recipes preparation
c. preparation of all the necessary stock journals, transfers and adjustments
