Job Description

An established ICT company is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Accountant to lead its finance department, in-office Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm with some flexibility. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, producing management accounts, and providing meaningful insights to support sound business decision-making. This role requires a proactive individual with a strong background in finance, accounting, and process improvement.
Responsibilities:

  • Performing reconciliations: bank, customer, supplier, and intercompany loan accounts.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and processing customer and supplier invoices.
  • Managing weekly supplier payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with SARS requirements.
  • Maintaining the fixed asset register and overseeing stock management.
  • Preparing management accounts and cashflow reports.
  • Monitoring and escalating delays in receiving information and statutory documents.
  • Supporting directors with statutory deadlines, compliance updates, and financial queries.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to accounting standards, confidentiality, and professional ethics.
  • Identifying process gaps and implementing system and procedural improvements.
  • Loading banking transactions and debit orders.
  • Providing oversight of the accounts clerk, ensuring quality and accuracy of work.
  • Liaising with customers and suppliers to resolve queries promptly.
Additional Responsibilities (Beneficial)
  • Payroll administration, including fringe benefits, allowances, and bargaining council requirements.
  • Filing statutory returns (PAYE, VAT, UIF, COIDA).
  • Submitting income tax returns and IT14 SD after review.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting (Accounting as a major and Finance as a subject) or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar Accountant role
  • Proven experience preparing trial balances, and managing debtors and creditors reconciliations.
  • Strong computer literacy, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP and finance systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, and/or Sage Evolution.
  • Proficiency in Pastel Partner, Pastel Evolution, Pastel Payroll, and Sage VIP Payroll.
  • Familiarity with Efiling and EasyFile platforms.
