Job Description


My client, a leading franchisor retailer and a listed group, has an Accountant position available, specifically in the properties department (a business unit within the Group).

The Role will include the following duties and responsibilities but is not limited to:

DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Daily clearing of banking suspense accounts on SAP.
  • Assisting the stores with properties related queries.
  • Daily processing of invoices including recovering from the tenants. This will include receiving and validating Tax Invoices, supplier entity details and BBBEE certificates, for capturing to SAP.
  • Loading of payments and 1st releasing.
  • Following up with debtors for payments.
MONTHLY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Bank reconciliations (+/- 15 recons by the 7th of every month)
  • Vat reconciliations and submission to SARS (By the 14th of every month)
  • Capturing of the credit card slips. (By the 2nd of every month)
  • Capturing of inter-company charges received from the company shared-services division. (By the 2nd of every month)
  • Assisting with investigating and clearing historic balance sheet items.
  • Capturing of invoices on flexible real estate and recovering from the stores.
  • Preparing monthly/quarterly reporting packs for review.
  • Ensure debtors ageing is accurate for reporting to management (South and Southern Africa)
ADHOC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assisting with all audit queries, in a timeous manner, at half year and year end audit.
  • Other tasks as and when required.
  • Preparation of Annual Financial Statements/workings required in preparing the Annual Financial Statements.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Proven track record in an accounting role.
  • MS Excel and SAP will be beneficial.
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Being able to communicate appropriately.
  • Relevant Accounting qualification. (Diploma/Degree)
  • Able to cope under strict deadlines and manage high volumes of data.
Note the Group Finance department is required to work either Saturday or a Sunday (2 weekend days per month and public holidays should the need arise) in order to provide support to all the stores. If the 1st or 2nd of the month falls on a Saturday, this is considered to be a working day.
