Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Tax, Accounting, or Finance
B.Com Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration (optional)
Minimum 3 years of experience in Accounting/ Finance
Experience with financial reporting requirements
Solid understanding of accounting standards and implementation skills
Solid corporate finance understanding
Reporting skills
Deadline-oriented and time management skills
Advanced Microsoft Office skills (MS Word, MS Excel, etc.)
Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
Data entry skills, along with a knack for numbers
Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software

RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure that the appropriate checks and balances are in place to facilitate ethical financial practices, provide financial information to management by analysing accounting data and prepare reports
Provide financial information to management by researching and analysing accounting data, and preparing reports
Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analysing account information
Document financial transactions by entering account information
Recommend financial actions by analysing accounting options
Summarise current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports
Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents
Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
Guide accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering queries
Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information
Maintain financial security by following internal controls
Prepare payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements
Answer accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations
Comply with South African legislation and accounting standards by studying existing and new legislation/ accounting standards that affect the company, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions
Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising account information and trends
Maintain customer confidence and protect operations by keeping financial information confidential
