Job Description

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Tax, Accounting, or Finance
  • B.Com Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration (optional)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Accounting/ Finance
  • Experience with financial reporting requirements
  • Solid understanding of accounting standards and implementation skills
  • Solid corporate finance understanding
  • Reporting skills
  • Deadline-oriented and time management skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (MS Word, MS Excel, etc.)
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Data entry skills, along with a knack for numbers
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software
  • Proficiency in English
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Confidentiality of all information
  • Problem-solving skills
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure that the appropriate checks and balances are in place to facilitate ethical financial practices, provide financial information to management by analysing accounting data and prepare reports
  • Provide financial information to management by researching and analysing accounting data, and preparing reports
  • Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analysing account information
  • Document financial transactions by entering account information
  • Recommend financial actions by analysing accounting options
  • Summarise current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports
  • Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents
  • Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
  • Guide accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering queries
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information
  • Maintain financial security by following internal controls
  • Prepare payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements
  • Answer accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations
  • Comply with South African legislation and accounting standards by studying existing and new legislation/ accounting standards that affect the company, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions
  • Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising account information and trends
  • Maintain customer confidence and protect operations by keeping financial information confidential
