Working closely with the Principal, the role holder will be responsible for the Accounting process and all related activities for a portfolio of re/insurance structures.
They will communicate directly with the Principal and/or Manager on routine operational matters ensuring close collaboration in delivering quality service to the end clients.
All work delivered will be accurate, well-presented and meet quality standards.
Tasks
Working in close collaboration with the Manager and Principal:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records for a portfolio of re/insurance clients in accordance with established standards and best practices, including preparation of unaudited financial statements.
Support coordinate and preparation of meeting material for shareholders/board meetings and client committees.
Payment process assistance including preparation of requisition and setting up online payments
Regulatory filing assistance (preparation and filing of Annual Reports with various domiciles, preparation and filing of business plan changes with various regulators, compiling documents during regulatory examinations)
Client on-boarding support including review of Customer Due Diligence documents as per approved checklists, report discrepancies and conduct periodic KYC assessments
Managing workflow and data processing across multiple types of captive/(re)insurance companies
Support day-to-day Principal operations, including communication and coordination with external consultants and service providers.
Comply with Principal's policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and internal risk control frameworks.
Support the achievement of strategic priorities and contribute to the growth and development of the Principal's business.
Ensure strict compliance with regulatory and operational risk management protocols.
Contribute towards promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
Ensure all work prepared for clients is accurate and error free and always meets quality standards, these will ultimately be reviewed by senior team members and feedback would be provided.
Use their knowledge and experience to decide when to escalate an issue, using every situation as an opportunity to learn and continue to grow within the team.
Liaise with Principal on a day to day basis for all on going accounting tasks allocated to respective portfolios.
Qualifications
Education / professional qualifications
University Accounting Degree holder or partly qualified CA (SA) / SAIPA
Background experience
Minimum - 1 to 3 years' experience
Experience in a similar role would be an advantage
Technical
Experienced in basic accounting
Knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS and relevant GAAPs) would be preferred
Computer / program knowledge
Advanced level of capability of the MS Office suite, Word & Excel
Languages
Fluent in English
