The Accountant will act as a vital link between the finance and fundraising teams, ensuring accurate financial recording and seamless collaboration. This role supports the organization's mission by maintaining robust financial systems and ensuring compliance while contributing to the holistic success of Christel House.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Financial Manager, the incumbent will be responsible to:
Maintain and update debtors and creditors master data on various internal systems
Process daily invoicing ensuring tax compliance and issue S18A certificates weekly.
Capture and receipt weekly bank deposits and cash intake, ensuring accurate reconciliations.
Perform bank, creditors and payroll reconciliations and update donor revenue records.
Support internal and external audit preparation and ensure effective internal controls, including budgeting.
Assist with payroll administration
Assist with preparation of reports for Exco and Board
Assist with financial and data analysis
Collaborate closely with the fundraising team, providing timely reports and financial data.
Requirements
Matric with a Degree in Accounting (e.g., BCom or BBusSci).
Minimum 4 years' experience in debtors, creditors, and bank reconciliations.
Strong financial accounting skills; experience in BEE and audit preparation advantageous.
Advanced Excel and strong IT proficiency.
Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills across all levels.
Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
Previous experience in education or an NPO will be an advantage.
