Job Description
Job title: Accountant
Location: North-west
Salary: Market related, dependant on experience and qualifications
Vacancy type: Full-time
Duties:
- Process and capture daily accounting transactions (invoices, payments, petty cash)
- Maintain general ledger, supplier, and customer records
- Prepare monthly management accounts and journal entries (accruals, prepayments)
- Perform bank, supplier, and payroll reconciliations
- Use ERP/accounting systems (Zoho Books, Sage Pastel, etc.)
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Prepare cash flow and working capital reports
- Handle VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL, and other statutory submissions to SARS
- Ensure compliance with South African accounting and tax regulations
- Liaise with auditors and support annual audit processes
- Raise invoices, purchase/work orders, and assist with payroll processing
- Reconcile employee cost records and statutory deductions
- BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification
- SAICA/SAIPA articles advantageous
- 3-5 years' accounting experience (preferably in mining, manufacturing, or logistics sectors)
- Strong understanding of South African tax laws and compliance standards
- Proficiency in ERP/accounting software (e.g. Zoho Books, Sage Pastel)
- Excellent Excel and data analysis skills
- Accuracy, reliability, and ability to meet deadlines
