We are a small & dynamic group seeking a qualified financial accountant (Bcom financial accounting). This is a comprehensive role which will require the lower order basic bookkeeping responsibilities, as well as the higher order financial reporting responsibilities. We are a low volume, high value business; so the workload is relatively low allowing for a more flexible work arrangement. This role may be ideal for a young qualified accountant, with a young and demanding family, whom will enjoy the process of being involved in the day to day tasks of bookkeeping to the high order preparation and assessment of financial statements. We are a group of 2 companies under one roof, which makes it easy to get involved and understand the business operations, and we would appreciate an employee who does get involved. The accountant role is an operational one, which is to ensure accurate records and reports for informed decision making, and improving efficiency. A fine attention to detail is an essential requirement. The successful candidate will be taking on the entire department, and reporting directly to the CEO. This position will be ideal for someone who likes control, and prefers to work independently.
Key Responsibilities:
To ensure that the company maintains correct, accurate accounting records from the basics such as invoices, stock inventory levels, credit notes the financial statements.
Responsible for procedures, preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses.
General Responsibilities:
Examines accounting documents for accuracy and compliance with policies and procedures.
Processing customer finance applications
Prepares basic financial statements, and other supporting schedules.
Cash book reconciliation
Capturing of creditor invoices
Review records of receipts and disbursements
Checking and monitoring of accounts: Petrol, Telephone, Expense claims etc
Vendor and supplier applications
Processing of credit applications/new accounts for approval
Prepares journal entries and reviews entries.
Analysis accounting transactions and determines corrective actions or adjustments.
Debtor management
Maintains records and balances and reconciles internal accounts ; verifies accuracy and completeness and makes necessary adjustments.
Prepare accounting-related reports, summaries, financial statements, statistical reports and reconciliation.
Controls petty cash fund; authorizes disbursement and fund replenishment; prepares necessary entries.
Prepare payroll.
Tax and Monthly VAT submission
Maintaining of Fixed assets register and amortization,
Maintain Insurance cover
Responsible for updating insurance records
Insurance claims
Budgets
FICA Compliance
