Job Title: Accountant (Full Time)
Location: Bedfordview, Johannesburg, South Africa
Reports To: Finance Manager / Financial Director
Start Date: JuneJuly 2025

Benefits: To be agreed upon and in line with company policy (potential benefits include medical aid, pension fund, travel allowance, bonus structure, etc.)Job SummaryA detail-oriented and experienced Accountant is required to support financial operations and ensure regulatory compliance within the South African business. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full accounting function, financial reporting, tax compliance, and supporting the financial health and decision-making of the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesManage the full accounting function including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and bank reconciliations.Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.Ensure full compliance with SARS regulations, including VAT, PAYE, Income Tax, and all statutory returns.Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and conduct variance analyses.Support both internal and external audit processes by preparing necessary documentation and addressing audit queries.Maintain and manage the fixed asset register, including depreciation schedules.Process payroll internally or manage external payroll service providers, ensuring strict compliance with South African labour laws.Implement and uphold sound financial controls and accounting procedures.Provide financial insights and recommendations to assist management decision-making.Liaise effectively with external stakeholders including banks, auditors, and tax consultants.Stay updated on changes to South African financial legislation, tax regulations, and best practices.Operate independently, efficiently handling all finance functions with minimal supervision.Qualifications and SkillsBachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Professional certification preferred (e.g., SAIPA, SAICA, CIMA).46 years of accounting experience, preferably within South Africa.Strong understanding of IFRS standards and South African tax legislation.Proficiency in accounting software packages and Microsoft Office 365.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Knowledge of defence procurement and government contracting processes would be advantageous.Preferred AttributesExperience working in multinational or cross-border organizations.Exposure to B-BBEE compliance and reporting requirements.Ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines while managing multiple projects.Ability to obtain a security clearance if required.
