The Role: Accountant (Client Portfolio Management)
As the Accountant, you will be responsible for independently managing a portfolio of clients across accounting, payroll, VAT, and tax services. You will ensure compliance with South African regulations while delivering accurate and timely submissions. This is a client-facing role requiring a high degree of organisation, professionalism, and technical competency.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of accounting clients independently
Maintain accurate client accounting records and perform reconciliations
Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, and other statutory returns
Handle monthly payroll processing for multiple clients
Prepare year-end files and draft financial statements
Ensure compliance with SARS, CIPC, and other statutory bodies
Liaise directly with clients on technical queries and submission deadlines
Stay updated with changes in tax and labour legislation
About You
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role, managing multiple clients
Strong knowledge of South African tax and labour laws
Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Excellent attention to detail and deadline management
Comfortable working independently and handling client communication
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
