As an Accountant at Kumi, you play a pivotal role in our financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. Precision and reliability: Strong attention to detail and a commitment to handle your tasks with care and maintaining accuracy in all financial records. A strong sense of responsibility, exceeding the average! Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities effectively. Positive attitude and able to cope with challenging situations. Demonstrated ability to analyse financial data and present clear, actionable insights to stakeholders. Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Professional Skills



Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the hospitality and/or property management industry. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero or similar) as well as MS Office or Google Workspace applications, particularly Excel or Google Sheets. Thorough knowledge of South African tax laws, financial regulations, and accounting standards. Professional membership or certification (e.g., SAIPA, SAICA) is an advantage, though not mandatory.

Your Key Responsibilities



Financial Management

: Maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, budgets, and transactions. Prepare detailed financial statements and reports to provide actionable insights for strategic decisions.

Accounts Management

: Handle accounts payables and receivables across the entire portfolio, ensuring timely settlements and conducting regular account reconciliations to maintain accuracy.

Tax & Payroll Compliance

: Independently prepare and submit tax returns (e.g., VAT, PAYE) while managing payroll processing to ensure compliance, timeliness, and precision.

Policy & Financial Oversight

: Collaborate in developing and implementing financial policies to protect assets and improve operational efficiency. Actively support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning through hands-on involvement.

Data Analysis & Insights

: Support with analysing financial and market data, delivering detailed reports and actionable recommendations to drive organisational growth and efficiency.

Sales Proposals

: Assist in developing pricing strategies and financial projections while monitoring the success of proposals to offer insights for improvement.

Remittances & Reporting:

Provide critical support in processing monthly remittances across the portfolio, ensuring accuracy and timeliness while maintaining robust financial records.

Procurement & Revenue

: Oversee procurement processes to manage costs effectively. Play a key role in identifying opportunities for revenue growth and profit optimisation through data-driven strategies.

Interdepartmental Collaboration:

Work closely with marketing, revenue management, and particularly the operations teams to ensure alignment, across all processes, and smooth execution of financial tasks that support overall business objectives.

Audit Support & Continuous Improvement

: Work closely with auditors during internal and external audits. Stay informed of accounting standards and legal changes, applying them directly to enhance financial practices.

Once you have passed the assessment and if your CV and motivational letter resonate with us, we will ask you to go through the Demartini Value Determination process and share your results with us.

4) Personal Interview:

If we see a strong alignment, we will invite you to a personal interview (in Camps Bay or remote in case you are currently outside the Western Cape). During our interview, we will:

Discuss your results from the assessments and value determination process in detail. Explore your previous experiences and how they have shaped your professional journey. Delve into your understanding of our values and vision, and how you see yourself contributing to our culture and business goals. Answer any questions you may have about the role, the team, and our company. Provide a platform for you to showcase your unique qualities and how they align with the position you're applying for.
The personal interview is a two-way conversation where we both assess the fit and potential for mutual growth and success.
