The Sales Account Manager is responsible for driving sales and account management activities within Sage HR & Payroll in South Africa. The role focuses on delivering exceptional service to customers and partners, while maximizing Sage's market share. This includes achieving prescribed sales quotas through disciplined execution of the regional sales strategy, New Customer Acquisition (NCA) strategy, Customer for Life management strategy, and alignment with the regional marketing strategy. A key element of success in this role is the proactive development and management of a robust sales pipeline.
Location - 3 days per week out of our Johannesburg office.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for the Sage HR & Payroll product suite by executing the defined sales and marketing business development strategy.
- Drive New Customer Acquisition (NCA) by identifying and maintaining target accounts in collaboration with the Sales Manager, contributing to annual contract value (ACV) revenue.
- Manage partner-led opportunities from initiation to completion in line with the NCA account strategy. Provide support to business partners in executing revenue-generating sales and marketing activities.
- Conduct site visits with existing and potential customers in accordance with the sales strategy.
- Perform thorough cost-benefit and needs analyses for prospects, ensuring professional presentations using Sage tools and collateral.
- Deliver product demonstrations directly or coordinate with the pre-sales demo team to ensure alignment with defined business requirements.
- Monitor and report on market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity, providing strategic insights to inform business decisions.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing customers to drive retention and expansion opportunities.
- Ensure full compliance with Sage's quality standards, business processes, and governance frameworks.
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Finance, Business, or IT.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a customer-facing sales role.
- Proven track record in HR and Payroll solution sales.
- Strong presentation and product demonstration skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and achieve results.
- Excellent listening, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong relationship-building skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Experience in working closely with business partners to drive joint success.
