Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented FET Phase teacher to take on the role of Marker, Moderator, and Academic Support Specialist. This role is focused on assessment, quality assurance, and learner support in the Grades 10-12 SACAI-aligned curriculum. The successful candidate will ensure that assessment and moderation processes are conducted accurately, fairly, and in line with SACAI policies.

Key Responsibilities

Mark formal and informal assessments (tests, assignments, PATs, SBA tasks, and examinations) for Grades 10-12 in your subject area(s).

Conduct internal moderation of marked assessments to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with SACAI standards.

Assist with compiling and submitting evidence for SACAI moderation and verification processes.

Support the development and review of assessment materials (question papers, memos, rubrics, etc.).

Maintain detailed and accurate academic records in line with SACAI requirements.

Provide academic feedback and support to learners and facilitators via digital communication channels.

Liaise with the Assessment Coordinator and Academic Heads to ensure adherence to academic calendars and submission timelines.

Stay informed about updates in SACAI policy and NSC curriculum changes.

Assist in academic audits and preparation for SACAI site visits or compliance reviews.

Deep understanding of SACAI assessment structures, compliance expectations, and moderation protocols.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and learning management systems.

Ability to work independently in a remote setting and meet strict academic deadlines.

Strong organisational, analytical, and written communication skills.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Education or relevant subject area + PGCE (if applicable) and is SACE registered.

Minimum 10 years' teaching experience in the FET Phase (Grades 10-12). Demonstrated experience in marking, moderation, and assessment development for the NSC.

Strong organisational, analytical, and written communication skills.

Desirable Attributes

Experience working directly with SACAI moderation and verification teams.

Knowledge of digital record-keeping and assessment tracking tools.

Ability to support academic interventions for struggling learners.

Collaborative mindset and willingness to support academic planning and quality assurance initiatives.
