COLLEGE OF HUMANITIES LECTURER NEW GENERATION OF ACADEMICS (NGAP) DIGITAL ARTS SCHOOL OF ARTS PIETERMARITZBURG CAMPUS REFERENCE NUMBER: A01/2023 The discipline of Digital Arts in the School of Arts on the Pietermaritzburg campus wishes to appoint a permanent lecturer within the Digital Arts programme. This position is an nGAP post. The nGAP program is a Department of Higher Education and Training initiative that xe2x80x98aims to assist with staffing transformation and capacity needs at universities and involves the establishment of permanent academic posts. Successful candidates will participate in a 6-year comprehensive development and induction programme, after which they will continue as regular members of the academic staff. This position requires that the candidate studies for a doctorate, or undertakes post-doctoral work, with reduced teaching responsibilities. These teaching responsibilities will include contributing to three or more of the following areas of study within the practice based Digital Arts: digital design, photography, AR and/or VR art, digital cinema production and editing, 3D modeling, 2D and 3D animation, and multimedia art and design. The successful candidate will also be responsible for contributing to theoretical modules within the programme and should have an in-depth knowledge of the theory of Digital and Contemporary Art and as it pertains to three or more of the above-mentioned Digital Arts practices.
