purpose of the job
To provide technical support, and to monitor and maintain laboratories, workshops, equipment, and inventory.
Main tasks
Maintain laboratories, workshops, equipment, inventory, and storerooms.
Laboratory work and conducting practicals.
Marketing and community engagement.
Health and safety.
Academic administration.
Technical academic support and project management.

Minimum salary scale:
(Total Cost to Company) R 546 833 per annum

A relevant NQF Level 7 (BTech, AdvDip, BEngTech, or equivalent) in Civil Engineering.
Registration as a Candidate Engineering Technician/Technologist supported by proof that an application for PrTechniEng/PrTechEng (Civil Engineering) registration with ECSA was submitted and is currently under final review.
Two (2) years' relevant experience in Civil Engineering.
Demonstrated knowledge, proficiency, application, and practical experience of:
+ Maintenance of laboratories, workshops, equipment, inventory, and storerooms.
+ Financial processes and procurement processes: Quotes, requisitions, invoices, and reporting.
+ Marketing and liaising with suppliers and industry partners.
+ Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and inspections within laboratories.
+ Technical academic support, i.e., teaching and learning associated with the practical components of subjects.
+ Software applications related to Civil Engineering, e.g., Microsoft Office, AutoDesk (Civil-3D & AutoCAD), Prokon, Geo5, etc.
+ SANS Design Codes applicable to Civil Engineering.
A relevant NQF Level 8 (BEng, BScEng, BEngTech Hons, or equivalent) in Civil Engineering.
Registration as a PrTechEng (Civil Engineering) with ECSA.
Evidence of progress towards a Master's degree in Civil Engineering (NQF Level 9) if in possession of an NQF Level 8 qualification.
Evidence of work experience in civil engineering covering all phases of the project life cycle.
Community engagement services in the profession.
