Job Description

The 3D Scanning & Modelling Technician will be deployed in the ?eld (onshore or o?shore) to conduct high-precision 3D scans of various O?shore Drilling & Well Control equipment, marine equipment and components as well as create accurate 3D CAD models in SolidWorks for engineering purposes.

The employee will be an enthusiastic, e?cient, committed individual with background in 3D scanning technologies, traditional metrology tools and 3D CAD modelling. The employee will be supervised by a Project Engineer / Mechanical Engineer / Management. The employee will also be expected to work unsupervised and will be expected to supervise other GR personnel on occasion.

Responsibilities:

Including, but not limited to:

Complete training as required. Shadow applicable Engineers, Draughtsman & Technicians, in order to gain a fundamental understanding of O?shore Drilling and well control equipment, the 3D scanning equipment. Perform 3D scanning of equipment, as well as interpret and manipulate scanned data. Conduct physical measurements using traditional metrology tools (e.g., vernier calipers, micrometers etc) to verify and supplement scanned data. Create accurate 3D CAD Models in SolidWorks. Ensure ?t-form-function of models and check interfacing. Draft a QCP detailing work scope steps, ensuring its reviewed and work according to it. Generate e?ective daily reports and progress reports. Ensure that all scanning, measuring equipment, consumables and tools are taken care of. Carry out equipment set up, packing, repair, calibration and maintenance. Carry out a variety of work in the ?eld and in country, as directed. Always ensure a safe working environment. Report unsafe behaviour to Project Engineer / Mechanical Engineer / Management.

Skills:

The following are the minimum skills required to perform the function:

Sound understanding of 3D Scanning Technologies. Knowledge of Romer (Hexagon) portable measuring arm and PolyWorks software would be advantageous. Sound understanding of 3D CAD packages, in particular SolidWorks. A good knowledge of the MS O?ce suite (especially Word, Excel, Teams). Good written communicator (email, report & manual writing). Good level of English, both written and verbal. Knowledge of SolidWorks PDM, would be advantageous. Ability to create manufacturing drawings and knowledge of drawing standards, would be advantageous. Exposure to ?tting and turning, would be advantageous. Good organizational, planning & time management skills. Practical thinker, mechanically minded and good problem solver.

Quali?cations & Experience:

National Diploma or relevant technical equivalent. Two to Four years' experience in a relatable technical environment
