FACULTY OF ENGINEERING, BUILT ENVIRONMENT AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY Office of the Dean Ref 2067

Main purpose of the job

Providing academic vision to the faculty and leading the strategic development of the faculty in alignment with the universitys strategic priority areas.

Main tasks

1. Achieving the facultys strategic goals and operational targets.

2. Managing human, financial, physical and other resources.

3. Managing change

4. Managing and overseeing quality and standards.

5. Planning, organising and decision-making.

6. Leading and developing individuals and teams.

7. Participating in the development and management of the universitys strategic plan

Nature of appointment

Five-year Senior Manager performance-based contract

Minimum Qualification/ Knowledge and/or

Experience

xc2xb7 PhD or equivalent qualification in a field relating to the disciplinary areas of the faculty.

xc2xb7 Should have obtained at least the rank of associate professor.

xc2xb7 Evidence of at least five (5) years leadership and management experience at middle and/or senior management level in higher education.

xc2xb7 A substantial track record of academic achievement and excellence in a disciplinary area of the faculty.

xc2xb7 Evidence of strong academic leadership in teaching, research and engagement.

xc2xb7 Proven experience of delivering against organisational and individual objectives.

xc2xb7 Proven experience of generating third-stream income.

xc2xb7 Experience of motivating and inspiring teams in delivering objectives.

Desired Qualification/ Knowledge And/ Or Experience

xc2xb7 Should have attained the rank of professor.

xc2xb7 Evidence of at least eight (8) years leadership and management experience at middle and/or senior management level in higher education.

xc2xb7 Professional registration to a relevant professional body, where applicable.
