Job Description

  • Responsible for accounting including the closing of every month and is the disciplinary and the functional lead of the Finance Department
  • Ensure that all financial controls/Policies & Procedures/Financial SOP's are in place and adhered to
  • Company documentation and Registration
  • All statutory reporting
  • New and existing insurance policies
  • Review and ensure that Payroll related postings balance between the Payroll and the Financial System
  • Approval of all Credit Applications
  • Ensure that the FA Register, depreciation and asset tagging is maintained in the accounting system - Evolution
  • Regular review of operative accounting (posting rules, strategic topics)
  • Compile Budgets and Forecasts with the product managers and the Directors
  • Compile trend reports with the economic forecast in mind
  • Ensure harmonisation of the CoA (Chart of Accounts) for all the companies in all the systems
  • Identify and describe requirements for adjustments in the Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet and accounts structure
  • Authorize adjustment postings
  • Review P&L and Balance Sheet as per local GAAP and IFRS
  • Maintain closing schedule, review and adjust feasibility of deadlines
  • Confirm completeness of the MSO (Monthly Statement of Operations) Reports in the accounting system
  • Compile and present monthly MSO reports for the Trustees and Directors of the Companies
  • Prepare company and group financial statements
  • Prepare and submit STATSSA reports
  • Preparing AFS and Tax returns
  • Trust and PTY Ltd Accounting
  • Prepare quarterly reports for the Trustees and Directors of Trusts and Companies
  • Ensure that Trust meetings are held (compile the Financial Statements and Agendas)
  • Ensure that all resolutions and the Minutes of the meetings are up to date and signed by all the Trustees
  • Lead the year-end audit for all the companies and Trusts
  • Maintain the relationship with the auditors
  • Responsible to sign off Balance Sheet Recons
  • Prepare budgeting and cash flow analysis
  • Manage end-to-end finance functions
  • Submission of VAT returns
  • Responsible for the coordination of the external audit
  • Oversee Supply Management and ensure adequate controls
  • Liaise with Banks and secure loans as well as overdraft facilities
  • Manage bank authorizations and administration
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives for the Companies and Trusts
  • Monitor fiscal and legal changes in the country, identify and implement the respective posting instructions
  • Collaborate and interact with all the Managers of the group of companies
  • Initiate and manage strategic meetings
  • Interview prospective employees for the Finance Department
  • Credit application approvals
  • Cash flow statements
  • BEE
  • Adhoc tasks assigned by the Directors
  • Com degree or equivalent
  • Sound knowledge of ERP systems, Evolution, Pastel Payroll and Microsoft Office
  • Experience in the Abattoir industry will be an advantage
  • Deep knowledge of financial, risk, Trust accounting and business practices and processes
  • Leadership and management skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret information
  • Ability to business partnership including demonstrating self-confidence at different levels of the organization (communication and presentation skills)
  • Team player, highly motivated and flexible
  • Familiar with Treasury regulations and reporting requirements
  • Ability to work under pressure and the ability to multi-task
  • High level of professionalism
  • Ability to work over time
  • Good report writing skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse team.
